European Union carbon permits advanced, heading for the biggest monthly gain since April as German power prices increased.

Carbonica’s extended family is a network of hundreds of volunteers and affiliates who are responsible for making it happen, being on the ground in remote parts of the world, planting trees and restoring rainforests.

Mikel Susperregi – Chief Executive

Mikel is a theoretical physicist and did a DPhil in Astrophysics at Oxford. He held several research fellowships in the US and UK, working in inflation, quantum cosmology and large-scale structure of the Universe, and later as Editor at the Physics Commission, the London-based think-tank, where he began to work on climate change. He is founder of Carbonica and created Carbonica out of love of rainforests and a passion to contribute to the mitigation of global warming by making it easy and affordable for individuals and businesses to reduce their environmental impact.

Perpetua Sachs – Sales and Partnerships Director

Perpetua read Physics at MIT and started her career as a climate change scientist. She then worked in financial modelling for investment funds both in London and New York, and then moved to Chicago to work in marketing with her first husband. She moved to London in 2004 and worked as a freelance science writer for the Physics Commission and later as a research fellow in climate change. She has continued her studies in parallel with her professional career, and in 2007 she completed an MBA. She is responsible for B2B and B2C strategy, affiliations and corporate collaborations and coordinates the sales team. She can be reached at perpetua@carbonica.org

Lucy Goldstein – Programmes Director

Lucy is an earth scientist and read Physics in Cambridge. She has worked in the private sector in environment-related activities and is very eager to promote reforestation as a solution to global warming. She has worked with NGOs in the Amazon, Panama, and Belize, and has a long record of volunteer work to help halt deforestation, particularly illegal logging. She has worked as an activist campaigning to restore the indigenous forests of Europe. She has contributed as a researcher in various climate change reports and research articles. Her responsibility is to identify new projects, networks and affiliates, their feasibility, and to work with our existing partners. She can be contacted at lucy@carbonica.org

Peter Vannucci – Finance Director

Peter is originally from Rome and is a trained accountant and auditor. He read a postgraduate MA in Business and Administration at the University of London, and worked with the public at various high street banks. His later career experience in the financial services industry is as a business analyst specialising in Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). He has assisted one FTSE company drafting their CSR code of business practice, and his CSR experience sparked his interest in environmental issues. He can be contacted at admin@carbonica.org

Jamie Westinghouse – Communications and Customer Service

Jamie is the resident communications officer for our Press Office and Customer Services. His background is in design, and has worked in PR for major fashion houses in Italy and the UK, organising events and product launches. He is interested in sustainable textiles, fair trade and fair labour conditions in the industry. He is responsible for communications and education, providing information, statements, to journalists, customers or interested parties who write to Carbonica requesting information, research materials or comment on topical issues around climate change and the environment. Steve Williams - IT Manager

Steve’s background is in both IT and psychology and did an MSc in Computer Science at Middlesex University. Steve has worked as IT administrator in the music industry, and later in the public sector, working as IT support at various computer services in academic departments at the University of London. Steve has privately built up a web-design portfolio and took up IT support at Carbonica after the company webpage was created by Creative Jar. He can be contacted at steve@carbonica.org

Brunella Bell – Blog

Brunella works freelance as a blog contributor and carries out a daily news-watch to put together selections of news articles and gathering research materials. In the past year she spent time in Germany, where she had with her ex-partner a shop of Egyptian imports, and she now lives permanently in London. She has a long record of working as a researcher and freelancer for NGOs and is writing her first novel. She is a fluent Japanese speaker (and met Mikel while living in Japan) and is keen to banish all printed books, magazines, etc to history – “we will all be using zero footprint Sony readers in future!” She can be contacted at brunella@carbonica.org
